Earth Day Session 2018
Today is Earth Day and we had a great session! Our Scholars are continuing to working on their community project with a focus on Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action. The driving question for our spring project is: How do we use our understanding of technology to inform our community of the effects of climate change & pollution on their lives?
In past weeks the kids expanded their knowledge of the Science of Ecology, learned about data collection by conducting climate change community surveys, and expanded their programming skills as they learned how to do Mathematical data analysis of their survey results.
In the coming weeks they will continue to learn about data analysis and data visualization, start to learn about Electrical Engineering through building an air quality detection electronic device, and do some field study through a field trip to one of our cities local municipal utilities: DC Water.
